A Dreadful Day
Michael Coules
God almighty where is He now
Is this the truth that wants itself known?
The path that goes on of a million years
I'm treading on now engulfed by sadness
Women and children and men with their madness
The might of men becomes well known
Along the path of millions of others
Abiding to the most treacherous ways
of a nation conceived of liberty,
who's nation will my eyes once see.
Fallen soldiers who once had a reason
A place where they once knew they could be free
A place where I may once again be.
Away from the pain, the fear, and the loathe
Where the heroes and cowards and fighting men
and all the ladies can easily fit in.
Believe in life and not in death
Have a good sense of what came before
A future with an open door
Who's nation will it come to be?
Where a child's playground remains unscathed
by the perfect weapon that had no sway
The spilling of blood and the ruin of home
Not a good sense for all that has grown
Who's nation will it come to be
With the Kingdom for those who want to be free?
Where I can again walk on solid ground
and not anticipate the next live round
People you say but here I am
Walking that road with life that must end.
i don't know why this has to be
There is no reason that I can see
It's just another dreadful day.
Is this the truth that wants itself known?
The path that goes on of a million years
I'm treading on now engulfed by sadness
Women and children and men with their madness
The might of men becomes well known
Along the path of millions of others
Abiding to the most treacherous ways
of a nation conceived of liberty,
who's nation will my eyes once see.
Fallen soldiers who once had a reason
A place where they once knew they could be free
A place where I may once again be.
Away from the pain, the fear, and the loathe
Where the heroes and cowards and fighting men
and all the ladies can easily fit in.
Believe in life and not in death
Have a good sense of what came before
A future with an open door
Who's nation will it come to be?
Where a child's playground remains unscathed
by the perfect weapon that had no sway
The spilling of blood and the ruin of home
Not a good sense for all that has grown
Who's nation will it come to be
With the Kingdom for those who want to be free?
Where I can again walk on solid ground
and not anticipate the next live round
People you say but here I am
Walking that road with life that must end.
i don't know why this has to be
There is no reason that I can see
It's just another dreadful day.
