A Raindrop's Odyssey

Resting in high skies, I begin my descent,
A bright blue backdrop tinged with sunsets.
I arise from a cloud, my source of force,
Nudged by the wind to take my own course.

Reveling in joy in my tiny domain,
Able to swish, to swash, to splash, to reign!
I ecstatically spin in my shimmering sphere,
Nothing but pure bliss surrounds me here.

Racing down swiftly, I dive from the sky,
Am I just falling--or daring to fly?
Is it fear that envelops me from dropping so fast?
No, it's a thrill of outrunning the past.

Reaching a stream, merging with the rest,
And pushing to the sea, on a dauntless quest.
I am surrounded by clones, copy and paste,
No longer possess my own unique taste.

How similar a raindrop's path is to ours,
Upon soft clouds that are childhood's hours,
Maturing through falls, with thrill and fear,
And land in a scene where adulthood is near,
Now another runner in an endless race.
