Dear Little Me...
Kelly Ta
Dear Little Me,
Look girl.
We need to talk
HOW. COULD. YOU. TAKE. SLEEP. FOR. GRANTED.
HOW. COULD. YOU. TAKE. SLEEP. FOR. GRANTED.
Remember when you used to fight naps like they were your mortal enemy?
"I'm not tired!" you said. "I wanna stay up!" you said.
"I'm not tired!" you said. "I wanna stay up!" you said.
WELL, GUESS WHAT—
Now it's 2:37 AM, there's a pile of homework glaring at me, and my eyelids are doing the cha-cha.
Now it's 2:37 AM, there's a pile of homework glaring at me, and my eyelids are doing the cha-cha.
You had the luxury of bedtime.
Bedtime.
Bedtime.
Do you even know what that word means anymore?!
I literally schedule naps like business meetings.
"Sorry, can't hang out, I have a 4:15–4:45 PM appointment with unconsciousness."

"Sorry, can't hang out, I have a 4:15–4:45 PM appointment with unconsciousness."
You used to get tucked in.
Now I tuck myself into regret.
Now I tuck myself into regret.
You had the audacity—THE AUDACITY—to complain about "too much sleep."
Girl, I would sell my soul, my GPA—wait, no, not my GPA, anything but that—and half my WiFi connection for eight uninterrupted hours.
Enjoy your naps while you can, kid.
Cherish those Sunday mornings when you woke up at 10 AM and still felt refreshed.
One day, your alarm will go off, and you'll open your eyes and whisper,
"Five more minutes"...
...and then it'll be next Tuesday.

Sincerely,
Present YOU
