Dragon Riders Academy

“Bring!” My alarm clock woke me up early, not that I didn’t want it to. Today was a very special day for me, today was the day that I would start dragon riders training. Now what is that? Well, every season 4 kids about 10 years old are chosen to ride, tame and take care of dragons at the islands “Dragon riders academy” and as you probably have already noticed, I was chosen along with my best friend Silena, her younger brother Scott and some other boy.
When I walked down the stairs to my family's living room my mother said “Oh, hi Sarah! Your father and I prepared some gifts for you.”
“Why?” I asked
“Well I figured you might want some nice assets to start off your training” she replied twirling her black hair which she held in a ponytail.
My father is a carpenter and mother is a “Freezewolf” breeder, freezewolves are basically white wolves with light blue markings and the coolest thing is that you can ride them.
Father came down stairs with a sword that had a leather handle and a silver blade, “Here,” he said.“I made this for you.”
“Thanks,” I said joyfully.
“You know you have to name it, right?” “Oh, yeah, how about Silverscale?” “Cool.” he said.
“There’s something waiting for you outside.”
I took his advice and rushed outside,a freezewolf cub waiting happily at my door, “Awww, that’s adorable” I said. I scratched the bottom of his snout while saying “I’ll name you Iceheart.” He had a light blue ring around his right eye and his paws, tip of his tail and ears were all dark blue “Well, best you get going.” mother said hurriedly.
Silena and Scott were at the academy, which looked more like an arena. Silena had her brown hair in a ponytail and brown eyes covered in frosty glasses. She held a book titled “Advanced Dragons” in one hand and in the other her copper sword Aquapierce Her brother landed a griffin and waved at me. “Hi Sarah.” Silena said, looking up from her book. I was about to respond but a big 10 year old boy with short blond hair crashed down between us. He was riding a Gargoyle the color of stone when he landed, a pile of dust flew out of the way. The boy came out and smiled. I noticed I was fidgeting with my black hair the way I usually do when I’m intimidated. Good thing he didn’t know that. I stood tall. Avoiding his eyes.
“Names Max, short for Maximilian” the boy said.
“Um, I’m uh Sa-” I was about to finish my sentence when a man with a dragon landed while
saying “Smokescreen, down!” The dragon he was riding had burgundy red scales, strong looking wings and lots of sharp horns on it’s back and wings.
“Hello mate! Name’s Jax and I’ll be your instructor!”
“Now” he said “why don’t you just introduce yourselves by stating your name, greatest strength and weakness.” Jax said with a joyful tone. “Hi, I’m Maximillian but you can call me Max. My strength is well, my strength, I’m immensely strong. I’m not the smartest person.” Scott went next, “I’m Scott” he said “I’m great at flying pre-tamed creatures but I can’t tame them and I’m great at taking care of griffins.” “Name’s Sarah, I know all about getting animals to like me although flying isn’t really my strong suit.” “Hello, my name is Silena, I’m great at taming animals and I know all about them although I’m not a fan of fighting.” “Great.” Jax said. “Now, as you all know, Valaver the dragon slayer has been getting extremely close to Drago, the island you call home. will be trained to destroy him and in order to do that you must have dragons. Smokescreen, flashlight!” he said. “There was a blinding blue light and all of the sudden we were at the hatchery. “Well” Jax said “Time to pick a dragon”.
“Hello young’uns, it’s time you pick a dragon” a old lady with grey braids and a dark brown staff said “You may have a Flameclaw, Oceanclaw, Breezeclaw or Natureclaw” The four types of dragons were easy to determine, Flameclaws were fire red with claws that seemed to be made out of fire and dark red spines lining its head. Oceanclaws were blue with somewhat small wings and small bubble looking circles around its tail. Breezelaws on the other hand were purple-ish white with huge wings and swirls on them. Natureclaws were mostly brown all though each scale seemed to be a different shade, some green hung off the scales up top and instead of horns they had spiralled vines.
“Flameclaw for me” said Maximillian,
“Erm.. May I have the Breezeclaw?” asked Scott
“Oceanclaws have some of the best qualities according to my book” Silena said without lifting her eyes from her book.
“That leaves me with the Natureclaw.” I said. The lady gave us all the dragons we asked for and said “Well, scurry off.” Suddenly the light came back and we were back in the training center. “Go along, give’em names!” Jax said impatiently, “Heatran.” Maximilian said, patting his dragon, “Tidal.” Silena said, still reading. Scott was already riding his dragon when he said “Gust.” I decided on “Foxglove.”
The days after then went on like a blast, Silena excelled at battle strategy, Maximilian destroyed our battle dummies, Scotts’ flying was as graceful as a swan and I soon found myself surrounded with tons of dragon I had tamed but Foxglove was still my buddy. It wasn’t till about two months later when we went on my first mission and I discovered the power of the blade father had given me. It all started when Scott yelled “Arialace!” at first I didn’t have a clue as to what he was talking about but soon I remembered his favorite gryffin and saw him with flaming purple eyes attacking a herd of sheep. “Iceheart, can you get me there quickly?” I asked while petting the freeze wolf, before I knew it I was riding on her back, Foxglove at my side, fighting the griffin. “Tangle!’ I yelled. Vines came out of Foxgloves talons but it did nothing. Annoyed, I stabbed Silverscale into his back and he immediately calmed down, Valvers’ curse had worn off and I soon realized that my sword had the power to reverse curses.
After a month Jax called us over for an announcement “Hello” he said “I’ve seen that you are all excelling at our training activities. I believe it’s time that you face Valver. I tried not to freak out, were we thinking of the same Valver? The one who destroyed villages and slayed dragons? Did Jax honestly think that us, a group of 4 10 year olds could defeat him? Although I doubted we could, I wasn’t training for nothing.
We set course for Valvers’ base. We hovered outside the entrance for a couple of seconds until the first wave of gargoyles and griffins came out, we followed a strategy that Silena had made up: “Max, you weaken them, then Sarah can use Silverscale to free them, Scott and I will try to find a weakness in the fortress.” those were her exact words. The plan worked perfectly until the non-hypnotized people came in. There were only 4 of them but my sword would work normally on them and we kind of relied on it’s spell. “Silena! Some help would be really nice now!” Max yelled. She and her brother came flying over, “Thanks for the plan” I said “it really worked’ “YAAAAAA!” Max shouted, which was his impression of a battle cry. Max easily got through the guy he was fighting and went over to help Scott who had fallen off Gust several times but easily got back on. Silena was using a water blast from Tidal to attack her opponent who was riding a Flameclaw so it was really useful. When she defeated hers she yelled “Use tangle then jump on and push the rider off!” I tried it and it worked perfectly. “Thanks!” I yelled back at her. Just as we were about to let our guard down, a man I knew far too well emerged from the base, it was Valver, the most known dragon slayer.
The man towered over me, had dragon-scale armor and rode an extremely big gargoyle with green eyes that signified the curse. I only managed to hit him about 2 times until I remembered what my sword could do, I stabbed it into the gargoyles back and before I knew it, Valver had fallen into the ocean.
We had won, Valver was gone and everyone was finally safe.
