Jayme Jensen
lighten up
my sunshade baking
riding round-a-bouts
truck hobbling down the road
we spot a sign!
like beacon by traffic stop
and slide in to a stranger's abode
picking through junk & memories
exchanging glances
-- we've seen it all before
in different stages of weather
you find something metal
to exchange for something paper
since I can remember
we'd scour -- this way
like scavengers
looking for a trinket
to commemorate the day
steaming blonde roast in hand
and 3 bucks to our name
we must find something!
a good deal to pay
