Ode to the 408
The hills have eyes and they see it ALL
Heaven knows about our daily plight and it whispers to me "never give up the fight"
Evergreen are the hills that surround the city of San Jose
Have you taken the time to see the sunlights that sways between the trees' leaves?
I miss my mother and fear for my father's health
Lots of people live in poverty and lots of people bathe in wealth
Lose yourself not in the bottle or the pipe, but in your lover's melancholic embrace,
Sorrow comes for us all but still do not lose your pace!
Hollow is this valley! I know,
American roots, Indian dreams, Native nightmares
Vietnamese beauties and Latina baddies
Everyone belongs here! EVERYONE BELONG TO US.
Enter into this wasteland with me and fill it with dignity
You and I must overcome the advertises created by humanity
Evergreen are the hills that see everything
Shangri-la, my Paradise I found in San Jose.
