pink moon

Srinidhi Senthil

i once stared at a face
and she stared back at me
inquisitive and silent
everpresent and prodding

her light shone down
when she asked with no words
"Who do you want me to see?"

through her eternal glow
i see the rounded edges of his hair
the coils and the kinks
his afro hair

he looks up at her
and whispers a ballad
a tune she carries
and returns to me

the eyes of hers
interlocks
his with mine
as I see her
he sees me

i stare at her
the warmth of the sun
behind her face
she carries my blush
pink moon
on this mild spring day
