Congratulations, you've been hired as the Night Server at ๐๐ฎ๐ต๐ฎ๐ท'๐ผ restaurant in Brooklyn, New York.ย
Your shift begins sharply at 11:59 PM.
Your job is simple.
Stay until morning.
Follow the rules.
Especially Rule Number 6.
Rule Number 1: Before entering the custodian's door, knock three times.
If someoneโor somethingโknocks back, leave the door closed.
Do not answer. Do not speak.
It remembers voices.
Rule Number 2: The chairs may move on their own after midnight. Ignore it. Do not try to put them back.ย
They're only trying to get comfortable.
Rule Number 3: If you find a piece of raw meat anywhere in the restaurant, do not clean it up. Leave immediately.ย
You do not want them to mistake you for it.
Rule Number 4: Sometimes, you'll hear movement in the freezer.
They'll sound wet.
You'll be tempted to check.
Don't.ย
That's the one who didn't follow Rule #3.
Rule number 5: If a customer enters after hours, do not greet them.
Do not take their order. Do not make eye contact.
You'll know them by their smile that's too wide.
Just step aside and whisper:

That's your cue to clock out immediately.ย
