Sorting Distractions
Saanvi Jain
Once upon a time there was a little girl. Her name was Lily. Lily loved to sort out her books. One day, Lily and her dad went to the library. Lily picked a lot of books. When they got home, Lily was very excited to sort out her books.
Lily was about to sort the books when she heard a knock on her door. Lily opened the door. It was her brother. He asked,
"Do you want to race with me?"
Lily said, "No."
Her brother said, "Ok," and went away.
Then, Lily thought about it for some time and felt she had not been kind. She went to her brother and said,
"I changed my mind; I will race with you."
So, they raced. Lily won.
Then Lily went back to her room. She walked to where she was sorting her books. Lily picked up a book. Its title was ‘The Big Book about Roses'. She put the book down on the floor where she would put books about plants.
She was going to pick up another book when she heard a knock on her door. It was her dad. He said, "Do you want to go on a walk with me?"
Lily said, "Yes."
Her dad said, "Should we walk around the block?".
Lily said, "Yes."
When Lily and her dad reached their house after the walk, Lily went back to her room to sort her books. She picked up another book. Its title was ‘Sea Animals'. Lily put the book on the floor where she would put books about the sea. Lily didn't think she was going to hear another knock on her door.
A few minutes later, Lily heard another knock. She opened her door and saw her mom. Her mom said,
"Do you want to cook with me?"
Lily said, "Yes."
So Lily and her mom went to the kitchen to cook. It took an hour but finally they were done cooking. Lily went back to her room. She sorted out a few more books. Then she heard another knock on her door. This time, when she opened the door, nobody was there. Instead, there was a folded note. On the front of the note it said,
"Open me"
She opened the note. It said,
"Sorry we keep disturbing you. We won't disturb you anymore. Love, your family"
Lily happily went back to sorting her books.
