Tanforan Mall's Atrocities
Do you know what went on in there?
People these days barely ask what happened in there.
Eight thousand were detained in there.
In there, people were forced to live in horse stalls.
Decades later, signs labelled "detention camp" depict what went on in there.
While the government was making a permanent incarceration camp,
people stayed in there.
The ones affected and their loved ones have never forgotten what happened in there.
In there, people perished as apathetic eyes watched blankly.
Roosevelt ordered people of Japanese descent to be detained in there.
Do you think it's fair what went on in there?
Although most were American, they were forced to live in there.
In there, people were being excluded and held because of their race.
Now that it's a mall, young teenagers casually walk and smile in there.
Some have no idea what happened in there.
Although the atrocity took place in 1942, I still feel a chill everytime I walk in there.
In there, people were robbed of their humanity, privacy, and individuality.
