The Cat and the Fox: A Fable
Caleb Lee
A cat was jumping through the wilderness, when a fox jumped out of the long, dry grass. " What are you doing here you wimp?" hissed the fox. "I was just walking until you attacked me!" shouted the cat. "Well, it seems like I have to stop you from getting into my territory!" replied the fox. The cat pounced on the fox to attack. "You made a bad mistake," said the fox while he swatted the cat away. The cat slashed at the fox. "I may be smaller than you, but I just might be smarter than you!" said the cat. "Eh, probably not," said the fox as he jumped over the cat. "What if you are just a bit too oblivious?" replied the cat. "What does that mean?" snarled the fox. He hadn't noticed that there was a pounce of cats thundering behind him. "I gave a signal to my fellow kitty friends from the city," said the cat with a hint of glee in his voice. Suddenly the fox turned around as fast as lightning."No!!!!!!" He was too late. As he was turning around, the cats had pounced. The fox was overwhelmed. "I give up!" shouted the fox. The cat held up a paw, and the cats stopped. "Have you learned your lesson yet?" asked the cat. "Yes," said the fox reluctantly, "you can go".
