The Journey of a Raindrop
Xin-Yang Saoirse Chen
I'm finally free from my family's grasp,
seeing the world, so clear, so vast.
Falling happily out of the mist,
embracing the warmth my kin kissed.
"Farewell," I whisper as I freely see
my siblings revolving all around me!
Mildness fills up my eager heart,
not wanting our joy to break apart.
I slowly drift to Niagara Falls,
hearing my cousins' joyful calls.
They rush in dancing, lively with glee,
splashing the waves, sprinkling me.
Then I arrive at a place full of snow,
getting closer to the ground below.
Whizzing frantically in that freezing place,
I don't want to be hail, in that case!
Finally landing with a silent plop,
after all, I was just a small drop.
The leaf I'm standing on starts to absorb,
and I transfer to a nourishing orb.
Recalling the many quiet little plinks,
I take my last breath and softly sink.
