Turkey Escape
Reeva Thapa
It's time for fall! Mrs. and Mr. Charles were the parents of Lucy Charles. Lucy loved Fall. Lucy was walking to school. She looked all around her, everything she loved about fall was already here, the different color leaves, the wind blowing through her long straight brown hair, and most of all Thanksgiving. It was Tuesday morning and all Lucy could think about was Thanksgiving.
Lucy's first class was History in school. You see Lucy is a mischievous girl and one of the biggest rules in History class is "NO ELECTRIONS"; it was written on the whiteboard in fat letters. So, since that was a big rule, of course Lucy would break it. She put on brown ear pods that would blend in with her hair, in her ears. Then played some pop music. Then went on the rest of the day and the same old thing class ear pods, class ear pods, class ear pods, then lunch and more class ear pods. Finally, it was the end of the day.
Lucy was walking home. She stopped on the sidewalk to see a group of turkeys' marching down the road. Lucy arrived home and ate dinner with her family. There was a long silence but then her mom finally broke it. "Tomorrow I and Lucy will pick up a turkey for Thanksgiving", her mom said with her mouth full. "How do people get turkeys?" Lucy asked. "People catch them and then sell them", said Lucy's dad. Suddenly Lucy had a plan, "Can I go to my room?" she asked. "Finish your dinner first", said Mr. Charles Lucy, gobbling up her food as if she hadn't eaten in a hundred days then ran upstairs to her room. She snatched a piece of paper from her desk and wrote "HOW TO HELP TURKEYS ESCAPE" in purple pen.
Lucy's idea was to go with her mom to get a turkey then make a hole in the wall so the turkeys can run out and be free. The next day lucy did the same old thing class ear pods then lunch. After school Mrs. Charles picked up Lucy and drove to the annual turkey shop. Then waited in line like everyone else. Mrs. Charles said that Lucy could go explore but she had to be back in 20 minutes. Lucy agreed and hopped her way out of the door. After Lucy was out the door, she started to sprint to the back of the shop where they stored the turkeys. But the door had a lock on it. Lucy tilted her head to the right then the left. But there was nothing around her that she could use to unlock the lock. Lucy walked to the left side of the shop there was a tiny hole. "Maybe I can make the hole bigger." Lucy muttered to herself. Lucy snapped a sharp, dark brown twig from the tree behind her. She pushed the twig into the hole and forced it down making a bigger hole. Finally, the hole was big enough, but the turkey wouldn't come out. So, Lucy ran back into the store without her mom noticing and grabbed a cookie sample. She Ran back outside and held the cookie out in her palm. The turkey started to come outside immediately, so Lucy threw the cookie and ran back into the store. "What were you exploring?", Mrs. Charles asked. "Nothing." Said Lucy. After a few minutes a man announced that the turkeys' have gone missing and there were no more to be sold. So, everyone left.
The next day was Thanksgiving! Lucy wore a red coat and black jeans. For dinner Mrs. and Mr. Charles invited Lucy's cousins, aunts, and uncles. There were mashed potatoes, beans, cranberry sauce, and ham. I guess Lucy will have to help the pigs next year!
